Carol Tooker Troy

Carol Tooker Troy, age 91 of West Chester, PA died on February 6, 2013. Beloved wife of the late John P. Troy, who died in 1986. Carol was born on February 5, 1922 in Clinton, MA to the late Harold and Blanche Davis Tooker. She was a graduate of The Bromfield School, Harvard, MA, Syracuse University and Smith College, where she obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work. She was a founding member of the Main Line Unitarian Church and was very active in the church. Carol worked for 30 years at the Paoli Library before retiring at age 80. She was a fan of jazz and classical music, a talented seamstress and an avid reader. In her later years she became a world traveler traveling throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and Nepal.

SURVIVORS: Mother of Cindy McKee of Annandale, NJ and Mary Lou Troy of Rock Hall, MD; Sister of Albert Tooker of Ayer, MA, Edith Louise Fuller of Leominster, MA and Elsie Campbell of Epson, NH; Grandmother of Melissa Armstrong of Rocky Mount, NC and Emma Greenspan of Annandale, NJ. Great Grandmother of Jack and Rylie. She had 6 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.

SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carol’s Life Celebration Service on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Main Line Unitarian Church, 816 South Valley Forge Road Devon, PA. Interment will be private.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Salvation Army West Chester, 701 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123, The Paoli Library, 18 Darby Road, Paoli, PA 19301; or The Main Line Unitarian Church, 816 South Valley Forge Road Devon, PA 19333.
