Jean Bell Herman

Jean B. Herman, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at her home in East Goshen. She was the beloved wife of Ralph E. Herman Sr. with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (McAllister) Bell. She was raised in Havertown, PA. Jean was a graduate of West Chester State Teacher’s College. She was an elementary school teacher who taught in the Tarleton Day School in Devon, and the Haverford and Great Valley School Districts before retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Malvern. She was a member of the Goshen Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Eastern Star, the Goshen Grange, and the PSEA. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her children, Jill H. Miller and her husband Kaj of Parkesburg, and Ralph E. Herman Jr. and his wife Deanna of Birdsboro; and four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Eric Miller and Madeline and Rachel Herman. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara A. Bell. Relatives and friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355 or from 10 – 11 am. Monday, October 22, 2012 followed immediately by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with interment following in the churchyard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
